April 14, 1863

Clear and frosty. The Battalion was reviewed today by Gen. W ("Grumble")Jones & staff. Many Ladies were present on the occasion. At same time a most beautiful flag was presented to the Battalion by the Ladies of Baltimore through Maj. George H. Kyle (he was a Marylander and Commissary on Gen Steuart's Staff)-received by Lt. J.S. Franklin (who was also from Company D). Lt. franklin was introduced by Lt.Col. Jas.(James) R. Herbert (Commander of 2nd Maryland Infantry).
